Guest votes and comments

Reading counts and comments does not create a guest cookie. When you first vote, post, delete, or report, Cloudflare Turnstile checks for abuse. A successful check establishes an essential, secure, HttpOnly guest cookie lasting up to 180 days. It remembers your votes and lets you delete your own comments. Verification lasts 30 minutes, after which another check may be needed. This cookie and verification work independently of optional analytics.

We store votes, comments, timestamps, moderation status, and a hashed guest token in Cloudflare D1. Your optional display name and comment become public when published. Pending comments are visible to their author and the team. Reports are private to the team. Do not include personal or sensitive information. We do not send comment text, names, or guest identifiers to Firebase Analytics.

You can remove a vote or delete your own comment while the guest cookie remains. Deleting a comment removes it from public discussion; a record may remain for moderation and abuse handling. Community records are retained to operate these features and review reports, without an automatic expiry currently set. Clearing cookies or changing browsers loses ownership; it does not delete the server records. Use the contact below for a request you can no longer manage in the browser.

To limit abuse, the community service keeps temporary rate counters and hashed network identifiers, not raw IP addresses or user-agent strings in its application records.
